Introducing Our Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Outreach Program
This summer marked a significant milestone for the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department as we proudly hosted the inaugural Metallurgical and Materials Engineering summer camp for high school students. This extraordinary event brought together twenty enthusiastic students from across Montana, as well as others from as far away as California, Pennsylvania, and New York. Over the course of a week, these young minds delved into the world of metallurgical and materials engineering through a series of experiential, "hands-on" learning opportunities in our cutting-edge department laboratories. They also participated in an engaging design-oriented competition, field trips to local industry, and other exciting activities. The feedback we received from the students and their parents has been overwhelmingly positive.
We were able to offer this remarkable transformative experience completely free of charge to the students, thanks to the generous funds raised during last year's DayOne Giving Event.
Increasing our undergraduate enrollment is top priority for the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department. To this end, we have decided to implement a more aggressive recruiting plan that entails recruiting visits to high schools State and creating a summer camp for high school students.
Now, we turn again to you, our esteemed alumni, to ask for your continued support in sustaining our vital outreach and recruitment efforts. We invite you to contribute generously to the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Outreach and Recruitment Fund during the DayOne event.
Every donation you make will have a profound impact, especially as we have a unique opportunity: through a matching gift opportunity from alumni Mark Johnson ‘81 each gift to the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Outreach and Recruitment Fund will be matched 1:1 up to a total of $12,500.
Your contribution will directly influence the future of materials engineering by enabling us to reach out to more aspiring students and provide them with the same opportunities that helped shape your career. Together, we can ensure that the legacy of excellence and innovation in materials engineering continues to thrive.
Thank you for your support and please help us spread the word! Share this project on social media, by email and tell your friends!
