The Institute for Educational Opportunities
Helping Students Succeed in Higher Education

The Institute for Educational Opportunities is a consortium of programs developed to provide K-12 and college students with the tools and support they need to achieve success in higher education. The Institute for Educational Opportunities houses AISES (American Indian Science and Engineering Society), AmeriCorps, CFWEP (Clark Fork Watershed Education Program), Jump Start Big Sky Pathways, Trio Student Support Services, Talent Search, and Upward Bound which celebrated their 25th Anniversary this year!

Since 1994, the Institute has helped more than a third of all students from Southwest Montana prepare to succeed in higher education. Its programs range from courses that introduce elementary students to science, math and technology to professional development services for teachers.

The Institute focuses on students who show high aptitude in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and pairs them with programs that meet their individual needs. Students enrolled in Institute programs are given one-on-one attention and support, ensuring that they receive the tools they need to achieve their dreams.

During DayOne the Institute for Educational Opportunities is raising funds for Montana Access Scholarship

The Montana Access Scholarship provides Montana Tech a unique opportunity. The 66th Montana Legislature approved $2 million in need-based student aid that, when matched one-to-one by private donations, will provide a total of $4 million in financial aid for students in the Montana University system for the next two years. To date more over $55,000 has been raised privately towards the Montana Access Scholarship at Montana Tech and along with the matching dollars from the state created 110 scholarships.

Looking towards academic year '20-'21 Montana Tech has the opportunity to create 140 need based scholarships provided we can raise an additional $70,000 by March of 2020. This is why today we are asking you to make a gift to the Montana Access Scholarship and take advantage of the rare and wonderful opportunity for your dollars to be matched 1:1. Each gift of $500, when matched, provides a $1,000 scholarship, each gift of $1,000, when matched, creates two scholarships and each scholarship is a chance to recruit more Orediggers.

Montana Access Scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded annually to qualifying resident, full-time undergraduate students enrolled for at least 12 credits per semester. The scholarship is based on need as determined by the Expected Family Contribution (EFC), an index number that is calculated according to a formula established by law and the information from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Please consider investing in students today and making a gift to Montana Access Scholarship.

Thank you for your support and please help us spread the word! Share this project on social media, by email and tell your friends!
