In Petroleum Engineering at Montana Tech you’ll develop an in-depth understanding of natural resource recovery, the economics of the industry, and respect for the environment.
You’ll also gain hands-on practice through five high-tech labs on campus and in field experiences across the state and beyond. At Montana Tech, petroleum engineering students learn drilling engineering, production engineering, and reservoir engineering, as well as receive hands-on lab and field experience in our unparalleled location in the Northern Rockies.
This DayOne, the Petroleum Engineering Department is asking you to invest in our students and honor someone instrumental to the success of our program with a gift to the John 'Jocko' and Gaye Evans Endowed Scholarship.
During the summer of 2016, a group of former students, colleagues and friends of Jocko and Gaye Evans came together to establish the John ‘Jocko’ and Gaye Evans Endowed Scholarship on Montana Tech’s campus. This scholarship serves as a permanent testament to the impact Jocko and Gaye have had on those around him, the Montana Tech campus & the petroleum industry.
Jocko passed away in November of 2019 and while the Montana Tech community mourns the loss of our professor, mentor, supporter and friend his legacy lives on in the program he cared about so deeply..
To date over $186,000 has been raised towards the John 'Jocko' and Gaye Evans Endowed Scholarship which allows for four $1,000 scholarships each year.
Our goal is to build the scholarship to $250,000. If we are able to meet this benchmark it means we would be able to award additional scholarships and possible larger scholarship amounts annually for Petroleum Students at Montana Tech.
During DayOne all gifts to the John 'Jocko' and Gaye Evans Endowed Scholarship will be matched 1:1 up to $6,000 thanks to an anonymous donor as well as Pat O'Brien '73.
Thank you for your support of Montana Tech students and honoring Jocko and Gaye! Please help us spread the word! Share this project on social media, by email and tell your friends!
