The study of geophysics embodies the exploration and appraisal of Earth’s interior. A combination of mathematics, physics, geology, chemistry, and computer science trains a student as a geophysicist. Students earning their bachelor’s degree in geophysics are trained in the three main areas of applied geophysical methods: gravity and magnetics, electrical and electromagnetic methods, and seismic methods.
Geophysics at Montana Tech is dedicated to enriching the students' educational experience. Though the ability to travel is uncertain, we are committed to providing our students the means to participate in professional conferences like those sponsored by Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and the American Geophysical Union (AGU). Student participation in these groups help to connect them to these organizations that represent the geophysics profession. In particular, involvement with these organizations opens job opportunities, promotes professionalism, allows students to get to know other people involved in geophysics, and helps them gain knowledge in the field and hear about the latest research. As a result, we would like you to consider making a gift today to the Montana Tech Geophysics Department. Your gift will help support students participation for these events and provide them invaluable professional experience before graduation as well as provide immediately available funds to invest in their educational experience on campus.
Please consider investing in our Geophysics students today by making a gift to the Montana Tech Geophysics Department.
Thank you for your support and please help us spread the word! Share this project on social media, by email and tell your friends!
