Financial ability should not be a deciding factor in whether or not a student can pursue their educational dream at Montana Tech.
Each year nearly $2,000,000 in scholarships are awarded to Montana Tech students and everyday we strive to offer more. We are a community of determined doers and innovators and together we can provide additional means recruit more Orediggers and to allow more students the transformative experience that is a Montana Technological University Education.
Please consider making a gift to any or all of the scholarships below during DayOne.
80's Legend Scholarship
One of the highlights of Montana Tech Homecoming weekend 2017 was the reunion of over 75 football players from the 1980's ranging from the class of 1983-1987. For many it was the first time they had been back to campus since they donned an Oredigger jersey, over 30 years earlier. The weekend produced fellowship, rekindled friendships and renewed commitment to Montana Tech and Oredigger Athletics. Out of this commitment, a challenge has been made to establish a scholarship in honor of the student athletes of the 1980's to benefit the student athletes of today in all sports. The goal is to build the scholarship to an endowed level of $25,000 so that it can benefit Oredigger student athletes participating in any sport competing for years to come. We invite you to celebrate the long history of Oredigger Football and invest in our current student athletes by making a donation today to the 80's Legends Athletic Scholarship.
Dr. Dennis Haley Scholarship
This newly established Dr. Dennis Haley Scholarship honors the career of Dr. Dennis Haley who taught Mathematics at Montana Tech for 36 years. In that time he encouraged many students to meet and exceed their potential, steering them towards rewarding and challenging careers. This scholarship assists graduates from Montana High Schools with strong GPAs and a declared major in STEM curricula. Once awarded, students keep the scholarship throughout their collegiate career as long as they continue to meet the requirements. Please consider making a gift to the Dr. Dennis Haley Scholarship during DayOne.
Rod and Mary Lee James Endowed Scholarship
We are excited to share that a donor has made possible a $1,000 scholarship that will carry Rod and Mary Lee James’ names and be awarded in each of the next five years. The scholarship will go to support the educational dreams and ambitions of Tech student-athletes. We would like to grow and perpetuate this scholarship and Rod and Mary Lee’s legacy on our Montana Technological University campus by endowing their scholarship. Our initial goal is to perpetuate the scholarship through a $25,000 endowment. Please consider making a gift during DayOne to the Rod and Mary Lee James Endowed Scholarship. During DayOne each gift made to the Rod and Mary Lee James Endowed Scholarship will be matched 1:1 up to $5,000 thanks to an anonymous donor.
Kevin and Joan Shannon Annual Scholarship
The Kevin and Joan Shannon scholarship was established in 1986 with the purpose of helping Butte students attend Montana Tech. Each year since, recipients have been selected from graduating Butte High and Butte Central seniors. To date the scholarship has provided over $165,000 in scholarships to Butte kids. Please consider making a gift during DayOne to the Kevin and Joan Shannon scholarship and invest in future generations of Butte students at Montana Technological University.
Alex Thatcher Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Alex Thatcher Memorial Scholarship Endowment has been established to honor the spirit and memory of Montana Tech Alumni Alex Thatcher, with the hope of benefiting a student who will bring that spirit to Montana Tech. The Alex Thatcher Memorial Scholarship Endowment is awarded to a female student from Montana pursing a degree in Petroleum Engineering.
