Investing In Our Program and The Next Generation of Computing Professionals at Montana Tech

At Montana Tech, Computer Science is where big ideas meet real-world impact. Our department now houses three bachelor’s programs—Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Cybersecurity & Network Technology—plus two applied two-year degrees in Web Development & Administration and Computer Networking & Security. Together, these programs prepare students to solve complex problems, build secure systems, and create technology that serves communities across Montana and beyond.

As Montana Tech celebrates 125 years since opening our doors in 1900, we’re looking forward, equipping the next generation of builders, breakers, and protectors of the digital world. Demand for high-paying computing roles in Montana is outpacing the supply of graduates. With your help, our students can be the ones who step in, lead, and lift our state’s tech economy for the next century.

When you give to the Computer Science Departmental Fund, you directly fuel opportunities that change student trajectories:

  • Scholarships & student support that keep talented Orediggers on track to graduation.
  • Cutting-edge labs, tools, and software that mirror industry environments—so students hit day one on the job ready.
  • Hands-on learning & competitions (cyber defense, coding challenges, capstone builds) that turn theory into résumé-ready experience.
  • Industry connections—site visits, guest speakers, and mentorships that open doors to internships and careers right here in Montana.

DayOne Matching Opportunity:

Thanks to a generous gift from alumni Nick ’92 and Kari ’94 Olds:

Every gift to the Computer Science Departmental Fund will be matched 1:1, up to $2,000 during DayOne.

Double your impact—unlock more scholarships, more equipment, and more life-changing experiences for our students.

125 years ago, Montana Tech launched with a vision to solve tough problems. Today, your DayOne gift keeps that spirit alive in the digital age, helping our students design secure networks, write reliable software, and build technologies that serve people.

Give today. Share this project with classmates, colleagues, and friends. Post it on social, forward it by email, and help us rally the Oredigger network.
