Montana Tech business students learn how to turn ideas, information, and technology into action. Through a distinctive combination of business education, information technology, and applied learning, students develop the skills to lead, adapt, and contribute in a rapidly changing workplace.

Students gain experience with data analysis, enterprise systems, accounting, finance, management, marketing, and operations. Collaborative projects, simulations, internships, and partnerships with local businesses allow them to solve real problems using tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and SAP.

Montana Tech is the only university in Montana designated as an SAP University Alliance member. Faculty continue to bring emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and advanced analytics, into the classroom. Small class sizes and close faculty relationships ensure students receive the personal support and practical experience that set Montana Tech graduates apart.

Supporting Students and Applied Learning

Gifts to the Business Department Fund provide opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. Donor support helps students participate in competitions, connect with industry, complete applied projects, and gain experiences that prepare them to contribute from the beginning of their careers.

The newly created Doug Abbott and Mary North Abbott Scholarship celebrates a deep commitment to Montana Tech and its students. During his 38 years at Montana Tech, Doug Abbott served as a professor, department head, dean, provost, and vice chancellor. Most importantly, he built lasting relationships with students and helped them graduate with knowledge, confidence, and a sense of belonging. This scholarship will extend that impact by supporting future Oredigger business leaders.
