Every safe shift, healthy workplace, and protected employee reflects the work of professionals who understand how to recognize hazards and prevent harm. Montana Tech’s Safety, Health and Industrial Hygiene Department prepares students to become those professionals.

For more than 50 years, the department has combined science based education with practical experience to prepare leaders who protect people, workplaces, and communities. Graduates enter careers where their knowledge can prevent injuries and illness, strengthen organizations, and improve quality of life.

Students learn through laboratories, field experiences, site visits, student organizations, and professional development. These opportunities allow them to apply classroom concepts, use current equipment, connect with industry, and build the confidence needed to lead in demanding environments.

Gifts to the Safety, Health and Industrial Hygiene Department Fund provide flexible support for recruitment, scholarships, laboratories, equipment, student clubs, experiential learning, and program innovation.

These resources help the department reach future students, respond to changing workforce needs, and ensure current students receive an education grounded in relevant tools and real workplace challenges.
