Safety, Health & Industrial Hygiene
Celebrating 50 years of Safety, Health, and Industrial Hygiene at Montana Tech!

For 50 years, Montana Technological University’s Safety, Health & Industrial Hygiene (SHIH) Department has empowered students through transformative, science-based learning—preparing competent leaders who keep people, workplaces, and communities safe. Find out more and register for our upcoming 50th Celebration HERE.

As Montana Tech celebrates 125 years of hands-on education and industry partnership, SHIH continues that proud tradition with a future-focused mission: recruit more exceptional students and give them the tools to thrive.

We’ve been fortunate to see strong enrollment over the years. To keep growing—and to recruit the next wave of safety leaders—we need flexible resources that can move at the speed of opportunity. Gifts to the Safety, Health & Industrial Hygiene Department Fund help us:

  • Recruit and reach more students with targeted outreach, events, and marketing.
  • Offer more scholarships that make SHIH accessible and competitive.
  • Invest in labs and equipment so students train on relevant, real-world tools.
  • Expand experiential learning through student clubs, site visits, and professional development.
  • Adapt and innovate our curriculum and delivery as workforce needs evolve.

Every dollar to the Safety, Health & Industrial Hygiene Department Fund goes to immediate, high-impact needs that directly strengthen recruitment and student success.

During DayOne, all gifts to the Safety, Health & Industrial Hygiene Department Fund will be matched 1:1 up to $3,000 thanks to Jack '73 and Leah McCarthy.

Please consider giving today and investing in our students and Safety, Health & Industrial Hygiene department at Montana Tech through the Safety, Health & Industrial Hygiene Department Fund.

As we mark 50 years of SHIH within 125 years of Montana Tech, help us welcome more students into a program that changes lives and strengthens industry. Your gift today helps us recruit, prepare, and launch the safety and health professionals our communities depend on.

Please consider giving today to the Safety, Health & Industrial Hygiene Department Fund.

Thank you for your support—and please help us spread the word! Share this project on social media, email it to a friend, and invite others to join you in supporting SHIH at Montana Tech.
