Montana Tech Food Pantry
A Community that Cares - Montana Tech Students Helping Montana Tech Students

For 125 years, Montana Technological University has stood for opportunity, perseverance, and taking care of our own. That legacy continues today through the Montana Tech Food Pantry—a simple, powerful way our community ensures students can learn, focus, and thrive without the stress of hunger.

It’s unsettling to imagine a classmate trying to absorb thermodynamics or prep for a lab while running on empty—not because they skipped a meal, but because they didn’t have enough food. This is the reality for many college students. At Montana Tech, we’re meeting that need head-on.

About the Food Pantry

Student-first and anonymous: Located in the Student Union Building, the Food Pantry has provided no-questions-asked access to food and essentials since opening in November 2020.

Student-driven solution: Conceived by the Associated Students of Montana Tech to support peers facing food insecurity.

Community impact: Helps relieve pressure on the Butte Food Bank while directly serving Orediggers on campus.

As we celebrate Montana Tech’s 125th anniversary, your gift honors generations of Orediggers who have always shown up for each other. Pantry shelves stocked today mean students can stay in class, finish labs, and persist to graduation.

Your support helps us:

  • Keep shelves filled with nutritious staples and grab-and-go options between classes.
  • Offer essentials that stretch tight budgets (breakfast items, proteins, fresh options when available, and hygiene basics).
  • Maintain convenient, stigma-free access so students can take what they need, when they need it.
