Exercise & Health Science

Understanding how the human body moves and how physical activity can prevent disease, improve performance, and enhance quality of life is at the heart of Montana Tech’s Exercise and Health Science program.

Students develop a strong foundation in health, wellness, kinesiology, exercise physiology, human movement, and occupational health and safety. The degree prepares graduates for careers in exercise physiology, sport science, public health, strength and conditioning, wellness, sports medicine, and workplace safety. It also provides excellent preparation for advanced study in physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, physician assistant studies, medicine, and other allied health fields.

Learning Through Experience

A well equipped human performance laboratory within Montana Tech’s Health, Physical Education and Recreation Complex gives students opportunities to apply classroom concepts through practical field and laboratory experiences.

Small class sizes encourage close interaction with faculty and create a supportive learning environment. Students may also participate in independent study and faculty research involving human movement, sports injuries, disease transmission, environmental health, and other real world health challenges.

Nearly all graduates pursue rewarding careers as health, safety, fitness, or medical professionals, or continue into graduate and professional programs. Montana Tech Exercise and Health Science students have achieved a 90% acceptance rate into medical, dental, pharmacy, and other professional schools.

Investing in Student Success

Gifts to the Health and Exercise Science Scholarship help recruit and retain students who are passionate about health, movement, and serving others. Scholarship support reduces financial barriers and allows students to focus on their education, experiential learning, research, and professional goals.
