The most complex challenges rarely fit within a single field of study. Montana Tech’s Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences program prepares students to connect ideas across disciplines, understand different perspectives, and approach problems with curiosity, creativity, and purpose.

Students explore literature, philosophy, communication, history, and the arts while drawing from Montana Tech’s strengths in science and technology. This broad education helps them develop the critical thinking, communication, ethical reasoning, and cultural understanding valued in workplaces and communities.

IAS students learn to ask thoughtful questions, analyze complicated issues, express ideas clearly, and understand how decisions affect people and society. The program also provides a welcoming environment where students with diverse interests and experiences can create an educational path that reflects their goals.

The William and Elny Chance Scholarship supports deserving IAS students as they pursue their education. Scholarship assistance reduces financial barriers and allows students to focus more fully on their studies, research, writing, creative projects, and professional development.
